DCSG was commissioned by a client to design a piece of living room furniture that would complement her residence’s playful personality and serve as storage for daily objects. Custom-made by combining wood with materials from Plastic People - a local recycled plastic supplier, we created Dragon - a vibrant cabinet that strays away from the popular minimalist approach to furniture design while embracing Asian culture with a modern tone.
The furniture’s overall look and feel are designed to evoke characteristics and the intensity of Vietnamese culture, inspired by the image of a dragon. It is meant to be both a furniture piece and a statement.
Drawers are colorfully decorated with recycled plastic panels.
We made use of recycled CPA sheets’ wavy profile, which was originally produced as a roofing material, to give Dragon’s personality a dose of funkiness. Colorful recycled plastic feet were also added to all four legs to protect whichever surface they rest on from being scratched.
